C++ Game Programming Code Ninja

We are looking for someone who lives and breathes high quality game code.  Ideally, you wrote your first PacMan knockoff when you were in middle school.  We prefer to hire generalists – this position will involve interaction with graphics, user interface, networking, installer, physics, sound, scripting and build system code.  The perfect candidate will see our product and have a personal vision of how they can contribute to its future. This is your chance to join a professionally funded startup in a rapidly growing and fantastically fun market segment.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS in CS or equivalent education or experience
  • 3+ years experience C++ in a production environment
  • Proven C++ skills, including STL and boost.
  • A proven history of achievement – creative, intellectual, academic, and/or professional
  • Passion for games, toys, and/or consumer products
  • Demo examples of your past work

What You'll Do:

  • We're looking for a generalist who can work on any aspect of our game engine. You will wear many hats.
  • Most of your time will be spent adding exciting new features to our product.
  • You will have the gratifying experience of seeing your code go into production every couple of weeks.
  • Millions of users will love what you created.

Game Development Intern

We are looking for a game development intern to help us roll out exciting new features. You’ll get a lot of great experience working at a small game studio. Your work will be shipped to thousands of players every couple of weeks. We’ll even pay you.

Requirements:

  • You are a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student
  • You can commute to our offices in Redwood City, California
  • You have technical skills: either you’re an intermediate-level C++ coder or you’re awesome with C# and .Net/Flash/AJAX/web client technologies
  • You love games

Bonus:

  • You have an online portfolio of relevant previous work/research/projects
  • You have domain specific knowledge of something useful to game development. For example: graphics, networking, flashy web interfaces, writing importer/exporters, 3d modeling, audio programming, physics simulation, etc.
  • You have artistic talent

Past Intern Projects:

While it is impossible to predict ahead of time what you will be working on, we try to give our interns complete projects that they can take charge of and work on. That way, at the end of the internship, you have something concrete to show for your time that you could point to in a job interview or put on your resume. Some of our past interns have:

  • Created new building material shaders (concrete, grass, ice, slate, etc) for the game
  • Worked on character control schemes in the engine
  • Created in-game assets
  • Created flash components for our website
  • Helped develop new website features
  • Worked on a mobile version of the ROBLOX site
  • Built automated test suites
  • Carried heavy things around the office

Hey You. Over here. Arrrr!

ROBLOX is a great product, with a lot of traction in the marketplace. However, it is a work in progress.

I need you to implement roiling seas for me to captain my ship on, refractive gem shaders to add that characteristic glint to my treasure hoard, and, if it's not too much to ask, sea monsters, just for the romance of it all.

Some of my deckhands are mac users, so we'll need to take care of them too.

There's also a host of social web features I need in order to be able to effectively coordinate raids on the colonials across my pirate hoard, which is 12,000 users strong. And we need *someone* to get around to making all this happen in a realtime, scalable environment. Pirates hate waiting for page loads.

Don't disappoint this old sea dog, send in your resume today!
